Getting back into the swing of things

StartFragmentGetting back into the swing of things I found some images from the internet, when I went to Costa this morning, for the closing events that I have found. I have chosen two events that I prefer, although have found more than that. I obviously have no idea if they will be of any use or very practical but at least I have something to show the group that I think are vaguely interesting. This afternoon I went to visit the exhibition to see exactly what we are dealing with. I have to say that it was nothing like I imagined it would be. I know very little about photography although working in a large Art Department in a college for many years, which had a photography department within it. They had the largest numbers of students within it, out of the four disciplines - Art and Design, Graphics, Photography and Textiles. Hundreds of students chose Photography each year, so I have seen a lot of photography exhibitions. As well of course, professional photographers exhibitions. I think I was a little surprised at the size of the exhibition. I was expecting it to be larger. To have more images. The video of Alex Beldea’s piece wasn’t working and was just a blank black screen. It is half term - so there were a lot of children and their parents in the gallery. I’m sorry to say that not a lot, spent time in the gallery looking at the exhibits. I overheard two snippets of conversation. Two teenage lads walking through the gallery - one said “There used to be hot stuff in here. What happened?” A young girl looking at a photograph by Richard Mulhearn said to her mother (very perceptively I thought) “are they printed or painted?” She didn’t receive an answer.EndFragment
