Cut/Weld

This body of images echoes the ideas within the essay Walking in the City by Michel de Certeau. It hints at the vast possibilities of everyday life using central Manchester city centre as the primary location to make the work. These photographs are intended as a comment and an open question based on the struggle in representing the city. Photography as a medium has long struggled with the idea of true representation and the concept of the photograph as truthful document is blurred. This is particularly of interest within the city with its dead ends, erratic rhythms, and skipped beats and as a place with a continually shifting atmosphere.
